Get Mecmua.

Installing on Windows

1. Open Mecmua in the Microsoft Store with Get it from Microsoft Store above, then choose Get or Install. It is free.
2. Open it from the Store page or the Start menu. Windows installs Store apps without asking for an administrator or warning about a new program.
3. Write your first page. Mecmua opens with a short tour. Close the window and it waits in the tray, so your phone can still reach it; Quit in the tray menu ends it.

Using the installer instead

For a computer without the Microsoft Store, Download the installer installs the same Mecmua for you alone, with no administrator. If Windows says “Windows protected your PC”, choose More info and then Run anyway: Windows says this about any new program it has not seen many people download yet. Use one or the other, not both.

Updates

From the Microsoft Store, Mecmua is updated by the Store, like your other apps. Installed with the installer, it keeps itself up to date: a new version downloads quietly and installs the next time you quit, or at once from the tray menu. Your notes are never touched by an update.

What is new in 1.4.3

• When an update is ready, Mecmua says so: a banner at the top of the window, and a window that asks when you open Mecmua. Restart now, or later; it also installs itself when Mecmua quits.
• After an update, Mecmua shows once what changed.
• The store and the updates now come from getmecmua.com.

Extension updates

Extensions update on their own page in Mecmua: Extensions, then Installed, then Update. They do not need a new installer.

  • Arabic and Turkish, besides English: the letters you type pick the language, or a tap on EN, AR or TR.
  • Every result says where the word comes from, from Wiktionary, Vikisözlük and, for Turkish, Nişanyan.
  • Arabic adds the root, its articles in al-Mufradat, Maqayis, Lisan al-Arab and al-Sihah, and its ayahs with a translation. The dictionaries (about 45 MB) are downloaded once, when you first ask.
  • Settings › Extensions chooses which languages sit beside the word box.

  • Six sounds for the end of a phase (two notes, a hand bell, a singing bowl, a marimba, a wood block, a digital beep), each with a preview.

  • Easier to connect: the first screen asks what you have (an account, an API key or nothing) and shows only the agents that fit, with the steps in order.
  • Agents install with one click and need no Node.js: Mecmua downloads what it needs into its own folder.
  • New API-key cards for OpenAI, Gemini, Claude and OpenRouter, each with a link to the page where the key is made.
  • A login that needs a terminal opens in a window from a button, instead of asking you to type a command.
  • Errors say what went wrong and what to do, and the buttons say Try again.
