Hello, I’m Ömer.
I am a software developer, and Mecmua began as the tool I wanted for myself. I study a lot: books, languages, classical texts. My notes were scattered across apps that each wanted an account, a subscription and a copy of everything I wrote.
I tried the apps that already exist, and none of them met what I needed. Notion had the pages and databases but no canvas to think on. Obsidian did not satisfy me either. So I stopped looking for the right one and made it.
I wanted one place, on my own computer, shaped around how I actually read and learn: lessons next to the books they come from, the week’s plan next to what I am memorizing, a reading list that remembers what I thought of each book. So I built it, used it every day, and kept improving it. Mecmua is that tool, ready for you.
What I hold to
- Your notes are yours. They live in one folder on your disk, in SQLite, an open format any program can read. If Mecmua disappeared tomorrow, your notes would not.
- No account, no tracking. The app sends nothing about you anywhere, and this website sets no cookies.
- Bought once, not rented. The app is free. Extensions cost a little, once, and are yours to keep.
- A person answers. Mecmua is made by one person. When you write, I read it and I reply.
Supporting Mecmua
The app is free, and it stays free. If it has become part of your days and you would like to help it keep growing, you can buy me a coffee. It is never expected, and it is always appreciated.
